2018 Budget: NASS members self centred – APC chieftain, Godwin Takus

An All Progressive Congress (APC) stalwart in Cross River State, Chief Godwin Takus has accused members of the National Assembly of being self-centred.

This is as he accused the lawmakers of slashing the 2018 budget in their favour.

Speaking with DAILY POST on Thursday, Takus decried the attitude of National Assembly members, explaining that they were totally against the people.

“The National Assembly members are self cantered, they are totally against the people. For instance, the National Assembly members are against the people of the south south and the south east.

“The money meant for the construction of airport in Enugu which could have offered employment and provided services for the people was slashed yet we have the South East Senators, including the Deputy Senate President who is from the South East doing nothing.

“What kind of representation are they making for their people? Why should they allow the cutting down of such amount of money meant for airport construction in the area which would have touched the lives of the people?

“Look at the South South, where I come from, the money that is supposed to be used in building University in Delta State was slashed down drastically.

“Now, if the University is not built and at the end of the day, people will say President Buhari was not taking care of the people in the region.

“Our people are not representing us at all. They refused to fight for the interest of the people because the President actually budgeted for these projects.

“I don’t know the kind of representation they are doing for their people, they are representing their selfish interest,” he said.

Takus regretted that most of the constituency projects were not located in the South South or South East.

“Assuming the money was slashed from one project or other to the projects in the South South and South East, it would have been better but this was not so,” he stated.
