Ekiti election is victory over propaganda – Abia APC

The Abia State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, on Tuesday, described the just-concluded Ekiti governorship election as a victory over propaganda.

The party thanked the people of Ekiti for their massive support to the APC candidate, Kayode Fayemi, assuring that the governor-elect would live up to expectations.

DAILY POST reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday declared Fayemi winner.

He garnered 197,459 votes, while the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP), Kolapo Olusola polled 178,114 votes.

The APC chairman in Abia state, Hon. Donatus Nwamkpa commended President Muhammadu Buhari, the INEC and security agencies for their impartiality during the election.

He stressed that the Ekiti election had shown that democracy had come to stay in Nigeria.

According to the former Abia lawmaker, “the Ekiti election is a pointer to my steadfast stand on one man, one vote. And that is why you saw marginal gaps, marginal advantages here and there. And also, the Ekiti election is victory for the people over propaganda.

“Ekiti election has shown that Nigeria’s democracy has come to stay. Because at the end of the day, in spite of the heightened tension created by Fayose, it all ended in anti-climax. No life was lost. No property was destroyed.

“I want to commend President Buhari for showing that he is a democrat. Buhari is an epitome of tolerance, epitome of statesmanship. And we know that history of Nigeria will always have a positive side for President Buhari.

“Then, I want to commend the security agencies who in spite of provocation, showed maturity and display high sense of responsibility and impartiality.

“On INEC, there has been improvement despite the hitches with card reader. But INEC in Ekiti state improved. And the greatest winners are Ekiti people. The Ekiti people showed maturity. They showed that they have taken their destiny in their own hands, that they can no longer be deceived by a man who was not paying them salary.

“A person that wears a shoe knows where it pinches. The Ekiti people were wearing the shoes of incompetence, squandermania, of PDP. Today, their votes have spoken”.
